Apple and Spice is a perfect match, try this cake recipe to elevate your menu.
Makes 1, scale as needed.


1.59 kg Sugar
570 g PILOT VOLIFT High Ratio Shortening
1.36 kg White Wings Plain Flour
60 g Baking Powder
60 g Milk Powder
42 g Salt
30 g Mixed Spice
710 g Egg
340 mL Water
10 g Vanilla Essence (as desired)
1.14 kg Apple


Step 1

Place the Sugar, PILOT Shortening, White Wings Flour, Baking Powder, Milk Powder, Salt and Mixed Spice into a bowl and blend thoroughly on a low gear, but not to paste.

Step 2

Blend the Egg, Water and, if using, Vanilla Essence together, then add two thirds of the mix to the mixture from Step 1 and bring to a paste. Add the remaining egg and water mix and blend all on  a low gear.

Step 3

Chop Apples, scrape bowl, then aerate on third gear for four minutes.

Step 4

Bake for 40 minutes at 185°C


Note: Number of Serves is based on approximately one 40cm x 40cm slab cake.
